I've been having trouble logging on to the SDC Forum.
Has it been taken down by Bob Shaw for updates, or is there some other
trouble?
Thanks!!!

SDC forum is cooling off after a war the likes of the old days HERE..
Only difference is that the moderator slapped everyone (save for a
couple) and tossed all the posts.
I like a good flame war every once in a while.....<G>... it has a
tendancy to knock people off pedestals for a while.  Eventually they
climb back up, but it is still a kind of "leveling"..

I would like a formal investigation with the trouble maker banned from
the club forever. Any seconds?  If someone made up sh.t to destroy
someone else they need to be taken out in the woods and tied up for
the gators to eat.

Depends on what kind of troublemaker...  Some people just find it
difficult to face the truth, others are thinned skinned or paranoid.

I don't mind an occasional knock down drag out fight..  Not too often
mind you..

geez.......I check this group every week or so..................and
never got into habit of checking the SDC Forum.  Guess I've been missing
a lot of fellowship.......I'll check it out next time I'm in a bad mood.

George, I guess I missed that on. I had been reading the thread on
Nimesh, but that one just got locked. What was the thread about that
got tossed??

Michael, you won't get any second from ME...at least not yet.  As far
as I'm concerned a lot of stuff was brought out in the open that
needed bringing out.  The "great and powerful one" never stepped out
of the shadows to defend himself, and that makes it look even worse
for him.  The evidence is overwhelmingly damning and not one peep out
of the accused.  I have been "doubting Thomas for" YEARS about the so
called "best engine rebuilder bar none" and there was a lare blind
following that would attack anyone who even dared question him or his
work.  I feel vindicated now that much has surfaced, but kind of sad.
This guy was put up so high on a pedestal by the forum that his head
swelled up to a massive size.  His attitude and that of his followers
was his main downfall.  It was only a matter of time before it all
caught up to him.
Paul, I would sit here and 'splain what happened, but have to be at
work (fixing Studebakers all day like I've done for years) a tad earyl
today.
I have been a professional wrench all my life and I saw an awful
lot of warning signs about the work and knowledge of the "great and
powerful one".  It is real obvious now that the "emperor has NO
clothes"....

I know you are a stand up guy George and I believe Nimesh is also.
Nimesh built a pair of R4 cylinder heads that are high quality and
they flow tested better than the factory heads.  I have only had
positive experiences with him and his work is beyond question.  Just
because he does not respond to a trouble maker does not mean he is the
bad guy.

Just for the record, Michael, I know Allen Anderson personally, and I consider him to be
an honest and reliable guy.

One thing nobody has touched on, in this whole brouhaha, as far as I'm aware, is the
possibility that something happened to the engine in transit. How was it shipped? Whose
hands did it pass through? Bottom line: is the engine as Allen received it the same one as
Nimesh shipped?

One other possibility, bizarre though it may sound: could some third party, knowing that
Nimesh was building an engine for shipment to Canada, done a B&E on Nimesh's shop, and
substituted a painted-up core engine for the finished product, knowing that it would be
weeks or months before the substitution came to light? Perhaps a person that might have a
vendetta against Nimesh?

Seems to me that what is needed here is for both parties in this dispute to agree to an
investigation/mediation by a knowledgeable Studebaker engine expert who is not closely
identified with either camp.

I agree with Bob Shaw's decision to remove the topic from the Forum. With the kind of
accusations being hurled around, there could be a threat of legal action by either party.
Usenet is unmoderated, so that really doesn't apply here. Bob has to protect the interests
of SDC, first and foremost.

As a moderator, Bob is also an editor and like it or not, it is his
judgement call to toss out all the stuff.  i don't think it was quite
the correct decision, but I am not in his position...thank goodness...
I have had discussions with chapter editors before about such
things.
As far as the engine being stolen or somehow swapped, that sure as
hell sounds far fetched to me...
Michael, this engine was but one of a long line of red flags over
the past few YEARS...If you want I will be more than happy to email
you with my observations and those of others that drove me to my
conclusions.  I had made up my mind way before this past incident.  I
did not rant and rave like some on BOTH sides did, I pointed out facts
and was so dissgusted by the pounding I took for even ASKING about
some things that were very obviously wrong that I left the forum for a
year.  I can rant and rave with the best of 'em...but the facts here
are quite a pile and speak for themselves without the rant and rave.
I do have my own theories about what has happened and will be glad to
share them as long as I don't get hammered for my opinion...if THAT
happens, then you will see ME joining the rant 'n rave bunch...<G>

PS the thing is still festerin' on the forum...

The crank that Allen took a picture of and posted on the forum was not
what Nimesh put in the car George.  Like I said, this is a smear
campaign and is dishonest.
Studebaker George - 01 Jan 2009 02:25 GMT
OK Michael, let's take this to email...you convince ME and I'll give
you my best.
NO ranting, No raving..
Worst case is it's a draw..<G>

Email  me George. And bring the evil cronies on also with their legal
actions. I am ready to fight.
Studebaker George - 01 Jan 2009 03:44 GMT
LOL..."evil cronies"???  I don't even know most of the guys involved!
I must be more important than I give myself credit for....
I have no "evil cronies" to bring along, just me and my
observations....
I'm not even MAD, actually quite amused and in a good mood...

Michael,

Your post parallels what is so wrong with the US court/law system -
the tendency to try to shift the focus away from the defendant's
actions by creating accusations against the victim.

How about the US legal system Paul?  Innocent until proven guilty?
What I put a post together saying your car did not have a real R1
engine in it.  Would everyone just believe me and turn against you
because you said it did after I made you out as a lying SOB with
fabricated pictures?

Well.....on 9 of the 11 Studebakers I have, you would be right. ;-)
