Good deal, Dave!!

I'm lucky living in NC that I still can drive my Stude every day to
work. (However, I did work from home on Tuesday when we a little snow,
more out of concern for the crazies on the road when it snows around
here.)

We took it to breakfast this morning, then went by a couple of car
dealers. Got a lot of nice comments on it. Wife is wanting a new car,
but I keep telling her that at 150K miles her 2000 Durango still has
at least 50 - 75K left in it. Oh well, now's a good time to buy cars -
the dealers really seem willing to deal.

I drove a Studebaker today...matter of fact I spent all day working on
Studebakers...
Avanti in today for a front end rebuild and finished up doing some
work on one of my OWN cars for a change...
And I will be up early tomorrow to test drive my Hawk and it's latest
"tweaks"...a nice long test drive....stereo cranked up all the way...
BTW, Dave, a well deserved congrats for your newsletter effort!  The
newsletter editor is the toughest job in the chapter!
Boy I sure am glad I don't live up north...been gone since I was a kid
and don't miss the weather...

Am in Ohio, so don't expect to play with the cars very often in winter
except rare dry days over 40 degrees......there's usually several from
Dec-Feb.   But this year is crazy - we haven't had a break since October
here except one day last week when it hit 42......so I warmed them up
and moved-them back and forth in the garage a bit  (the snow is still a
foot deep in the drive).  At least I could rinse the salt off the new
drivers.

Leaving in a couple days for a few weeks in Florida and may check-out
some condos........here's a weird one:  I'm accustomed to all those
beach houses/condos up on stilts from Gulf Shores thru southern FLA.
This year, we're checking out the Daytona area and have been previewing
condos online:  surprising to see that the beach highrises there have
underground garages.  Seems to be tempting fate - wonder how often they
flood?

Check out some of the condos on Siesta Key, NEVER floods there.  Want
to buy one?  Rent one?

Geo & others.....

Have vacationed from Gulf Shores to Ft Myers Beach, renting beach homes.
Some beautiful areas......but it's a little intimadating to go back to a
spot a year or two later and find that all the buildings have been swept
away!!!!!

So in considering purchase, we started with an online Hurricane Hit map
that shows the  Gulf Coast stands a 1 in 7 chance of being in the path
of every hurricane that comes along.....the odds decrease as you go up
the East coast and from Daytona to Jacksonville, the odds drop from 1 in
50 to 1 in 100.

Granted, the weather is more seasonal  (they were recently in the 20s
overnight) but as this would eventually be our only home, we'd rather
not be washed out to sea!!!!!!

Sort of surprised:  we're using realtor.com and other sites to checkout
areas.......are those listings 4real?  item:  90% of the condo listings
have been there for the 2+ years we've been checking, and, despite the
current conditions, prices haven't budged an inch.

Weirdest thing:  someone suggested one of the Keys (forget which one, a
bigger island about half-way to Key West....this was before we found the
Hurricane Hit map)......we put in our parameters and the Search came-up
with one property we could afford:  an old AIrstream trailer parked on a
very small lot.....for $500,000.  Nope, no garage for the Studies!!!!!

I'd much rather be in the west coast of Florida than the east coast.
I like sunsets.. (Somewhere's between Sarasota and Naples)
Mexico Beach, Fl was the last place going south that I saw ALL the
houses on stilts....
(Until you go out a ways in Biscayne Bay <lol>.)

Hi all,

Well Sam & Chris worked on Chris's bat-winged 37 coupe thats blocking
in our 36(bummer).  Sam had been working on the 36, so at the time it
was no big deal.  Sam's got the 36 DONE, ready for Palm Springs in
April.  he rebuilt the engine and put in a whole new electrical
harness.  She still needs paint & interior but she's on the road.
Chris had his and Sam's headlight deflectors re-whatevered and they
put those in.  Chris's got his cleaned out gas tank put in yesterday &
his lights put back on.  I'm thinking Sam had better get the 37
running so I can drive it around today.  If I like it I think I'll
tell Sam to tell Chris he cant have it, that Rhonda wants it.  It's
well known how redheads are, right?  I mean its a 37 Bus. coupe, what
a tough car!  When it got here, I thought was a mess..Chris what are
you thinking?  Have you ever seen Chris's 37 coupe express? Its on the
so cal antique web site.  Its a Bad truck!  But this car has grown on
me & they have really put it together, now that's what I'm talking
about.  I was hoping Sam would take me to the movies today but hey, to
drive around in the coupe... I can forego the Hotel for Dogs, lol.
