Checking a used car lot the other day, my eyes were caught by a small
Chevy that looked good for my needs.
The salesman got the keys and started it, resulting in 2 or 3 seconds
of bearing rattle as the oil filled the gap.
Obviously, I commented on it.
He said, 'That happens to cars sitting too long and is no problem.
It became one to him as we left.

My '67 Dart used to do that, the cause was a Fram oil filter.
That said you were probably wise to walk as Chevy typically didn't use
an "upside down" oil filter like MoPar.
