Just looking over the production order on my 60 Hawk that was built in
Hamilton, they called it a "Silver Hawk Coupe",geeze, even Studebaker got
confused with their names. If I ever sell it on E-Bay Im going to
say"Extremly rare,one of a kind,1960 Silver Hawk"

Although a 1960 was NOT called a Silver Hawk in the US, it might have been
in Canada. Are there any historians with a real knowledge of what the
Hamilton plant was doing in 1960? They just about nearly didn't build any
Hawks that year--VC2115 was #48 of 220, and production started way late-it
was built March 24, 1960. That always intrigued me after I got the
production order for that car. Now, I'm just idly wondering why there wasn't
one of those small maple leaves on that Hamilton Hawk somewhere. Did they
run out? Previous years they did on the dash. Every other car of the era
seemed to have one, inside or outside, especially if it was somehow
"Canadian" in some way, example. Ford Frontenac, Pontiac Acadian etc

1958 was the final year for the gold maple leaf on the dash for Hamilton
built cars.  But you got to remember the Frontenac, Acadian, and Meteor were
Canadian market-only cars, and never sold in the U.S., so GM and Ford
'patriotized' them with maple leafs inside and out to make it known they
were only sold in Canada.
Studebaker never had any Canadian-only models.  A few body styles and trim
levels, like the Silver Hawk hardtops and the Custom Wagonaire were unique
to Canada, but never any special model names reserved for Canada only.

Craig.

Speaking of those- anyone from Canada have a NOS one, by any chance - that
they'd like to get rid of?

Was the Silver Hawk by Studebaker or someone that typed up the build sheet
copy?  Most of what people have gotten as build sheets are versions that are
typed up from the production information.  Maybe the Studebaker information
didn't say Silver, but the typist thought they were "correcting" a mistake.

Gary I believe the museum sends a photocopy of the microfilm plus the matching
freshly typed reproduction copy at least that's what they did recently for me.

Yes, that is what they are now doing, but for many years someone just typed up
a "copy" of the factory material/information.

The repro ones that N&A were making were typed on old paper forms.  It was not
unknown for these re-typed versions to have errors.  Was the build sheet from
N&A or SNM?  You could probably reverify your build sheet info with the SNM.
