A common practice in the horse (mule?) industry is to name all offspring a
certain 'flavor; name for every year.
And birthdays are 'all' Jan, 1st.
So on the registration papers, even if the critter was born Dec 28th 2004,
the papers would say Jan 1, 2004.
Notice that the whole year was car names, and then the previous year was
cheese names.
I have seen a batch of horses with watch names (Rolex, Cartier, Bulova,
etc..)
Not a bad idea, as years later you could hear of one of your horses, and you
can immediately identify with the siblings, or the year.
Maybe the one exception was a foal from another farm's mare, hence the other
name.
