Got this E-mail from Step-Daughter Crystal This morning. Her Hubby(and my
buddy)Rauly Just got a almost new car and had it all fixed up and ready for
winter, and he really liked it too.

Rauly smashed up the car this morning. Hit a great big buck. The air bag
went off and the front end is all smashed to F*!#K the rad and the fan are
crammed against the motor, the passenger door won't open (hopefully because
the panel is pushed back and not a bent frame), hood is all bent up and
torn, headlights are smashed out (but still work). 4am this morning. He
drove it home but his fluids were spewing every where. About a mile from
home. He seems to be ok, had his seat belt on. Hes going to video it. You
won't believe the mess.

He worked overtime and just got off at 3am,trying to get a little ahead...

That is why I carry comprehensive coverage on all my vehicles.  Covers
animal collisions...

The way Raulys insurance works(and mabey all,I don't know)if you tell them
that you hit the deer, then its considered a collision, which goes under the
collision part of your policy, aand your rates will go up.But if the the deer
hit you,it goes under comp and your rates won't jump.I hope for his sake
they right the car off,I would not want one of todays little FWD cars
repaired after a major smash like that. The adjuster won't see it untill
today.

Any animal collision (whether you hit it or it hits you) is covered
under comprehensive, which is not considered "chargeable" by most
companies. What you DON'T want to do is swerve to miss the animal and
hit a tree or roll the car. Besides causing more damage and injuries,
that makes it a collision and an "at fault" accident. When in doubt,
hang on and mow it down.

Interesting trivia question at the next water cooler gathering: What
wild animal causes more deaths and injuries every year in the US than
all other species combined? Deer.

Yep,and people are terrified of gettin eaten by a bear or cougar, but their
really in much more danger from innocent little Bambi(or his dad)

On the bright side, at least it wasn't a Studebaker...
