found out two things about my car...
1) when you make a secure, positive motor mount it does wonders for
throttle response.
2) apparently the driver's side motor mount is the weakest link in the
drivetrain. Unfortunately, the second weakest link appears to be the
clutch. Oops.
Was leaving the show... apparently there was a "mandatory" burnout
contest... it was an officially announced event, people were invited to
light 'em up leaving the show... and *everyone* had to leave the same
way. Just my luck, I get stuck behind a nice '33 Ford with a blown
BBC... can't really follow that. So I figure I'll just pass on the
burnout thing until from somewhere back in the crowd I hear someone yell
real loud, "hey, light up that Studebaker!" It's a reflex, what can I
say... foot was on the floor before my mature, responsible side even
woke up. Unfortunately the tires stopped spinning a little sooner than
I expected and a hard shift to second yielded no chirp... oopsie...
Only one other Stude there... a black '54 coupe also with a blown BBC... :(

The driver side mount goes from compression to tension when you
accelerate hard.
The other side would go into tension only if you pop the clutch while
push-starting the car, for all practical(?) purposes.
