Is it possible to make the factory mag wheels off a late '80s Riviera fit a
1957 Silver Hawk without too much superhuman tinkering?

Without looking them up, I would guess that they have a different bolt circle
dimension.

yes, most GMs use either 4-3/4" or 5" bolt circle.

The 1960's Crestline Mk II's (early ET's) on S2D started life with a 4 3/4"
bolt circle.  Redrilling for a 4 1/2" bolt circle was not an issue.  I would
guess a potentially bigger problem with the Buick rims would be width and
offset.  There isn't much room between the drum face and the fender in a '57
if you are running a stock (width) rear end.  I'd say if you have more than
3" between the mounting flange of the wheel and the outer lip, they will be
too wide.
