I am having some problems with my '85 Avanti power steering. I am thinking
of replacing the steering ram. I have heard for years that the pump, control
valve and ram are all a Ford setup. Does anyone know exactly what it is? And
were they the same for all the years of the Avanti that is still on the
Studebaker frame?

The pump was made by "Eaton", and the control valve by "Bendix", (I
think).  The same pump was used on Ford Fairlanes, in the 60's, with the
small block V8.  I think Ford used that control valve in '57.  Rebuild kits
are available for the Stude pump, valve, & ram.
