permit this crap:

phttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31856&item=2498256612&rd=1#mainImageermit
this crap:

the header distinctly says one woman owner with documentation, yet the
description reveals a minimum of three owners, with the original woman
owner having surrendered the car decades ago! Grrrr....

I know, I know...get back to Studebakers where there is NEVER any such
deception, right? <G>

Of course eBay, and most of the rest of our economy, operates under the old
theme of Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware).  eBay tries to give the buyer as much
information as possible through the feedback system.  I'd get more upset
with the situation if the description didn't fully explain the ownership
chain, and I drove up to see it and found different, than if I simply read
the header only, skipped reading the description, and drove up to see it and
found different.  The seller can always point to the fine print.  Its there,
and that's why it's there.

I'm not condoning putting "one owner" in the description.  That's not right.
But anyone who reads the description will quickly learn the truth and I'd
say the seller's zeal to represent what looks like a nice car may cost him
some bids because everyone with a brain reads the description before bidding
on an item like this.  The description doesn't match the header.  Any
misunderstanding may lead to this guy's second negative in 35 transactions.

Bob - you are in the business - the car only has one owner now <G>.  Didn't the
"256 liters" engine and chrome headlight rims bother you?  I owned a '54
Monterey hardtop in the late '50s.   It was a nice car except for the engine
(an important exception).  That and the car was too common in this area.  One
night in Beacon, there were five with the same color combination, green and
yellow, on Main Street (and this was in New York State's smallest city).  My
father had a '53 Monterey and I had '49, '56 and '60 Mercurys that all ran
well.  I don't think that first year OHV V8 was very good.  Mine went through
two crankshafts and three main bearing sets in three months.  One time that it
wouldn't start wasn't the car's fault.  Someone had stolen the carb.!
