Has anyone else noticed the inordinate amount of wind noise that
permeates the cabin in their Outbacks?  It sounds as though the windows
are pulling away from the seals at speeds greater than 65-70 MPH.  Also,
I noticed lately, that whenever the passenger door is opened and closed
I have to "jog" the window to get it to seal again.  Otherwise, it will
make quite a racket until I do.

I had the same problem on my Y2K Outback.  Someone had posted this fix
that worked for me.  My wind noise was coming through the front window
around the black plastic triangle in the front corner.  Take and
squeeze that together with your hands.  I felt the seal 'pop' back
into place and it seem to take care of the wind noise.

Thanks Jack. Mine does that too. I'll try this fix.

This happens to me EVERY SINGLE DAY.  To fix it, every once in a while I roll
down the driver and front passenger windows and then roll them back up again.
PITA but what can you do?

I had this problem too in my 03 Outback. I took the roof rack cross bars off
and it's been fine ever since.

For the crossbars on the wagons there's a TSB and you can get free fuzzy
diffuser sticker like things
to put on the crossbars. Have your dealer look it up and the subaru tech
website. My driver's side
mirror (sedan) is now noisy after it was replaced due to a bad heater.

i had the problem remedied yesterday after putting up with it for
three years.
it happens(according to subaru people) because the outside mirrors
tend to pull on the rubber of the window.
i dont believe them.
anyways..they fixed it fast and now its quiet!
just tell them its been like that since you got the car..make them
think its a recall deal..they will deny it but fix it pronto..free!
good luck
by the way..winter sucked because of that.
dont wait as long as i did.

I had wind noise coming in from the driver's window in my 2003 OBW. At first
I was able to deal with it by opening and closing the window, and then that
stopped working. I took it back to the dealer and they fixed it promptly.
They seemed to know exactly what to do, so I assume this must be a common
problem.
