I don't see that it's necessary to change the washer. It's solid
and as you point out, about 1/8" thick. There isn't any crushing
going on so it should be reusable.

Most of the time they don't leak when reused. Sometimes they do. For me,
they are worth replaceing.

I looked at it, and it appears to be mad of soft copper. The original
one had deformed slightly - more so on the side against the bolt.
