My 'AT Oil Temp' light began flashing a few days ago.  I found a way to retrive a diagnotic trouble code from the TCM online.  The problem is that I have no idea what to do with the code?

The code is '24' (two long blinks, four shorts blinks).

Any idea where I can find out what my 1998 Forester is trying to tell me???

Thanks!!!

Hey there,

It sounds as if the temperature sensor in the AT is open or shorted.
However, this should yield trouble code 27 as far as i know (but i am an
impreza guy).
Never seen trouble code 24 anywhere, though :o(

Does the blinking stop when the car is just idling (ie loose connection)?

Good luck in finding the culprit,

Cheers,
Jesper

JCC,

I have some info for the '95 Legacy TCM and info on the codes. I tried to
e-mail, but it bounced. On the '95 a 24 is the C Solenoid problem, open,
shorted or seized. Send me a good email address and I will e-mail you the
'95 info offline. I am still trying to find some '98 Forester info... and
see if it has changed from year and model...

Thanks for the help so far everyone

I plugged the car up to a code reader tonight, and no general codes were reported.  I guess the TCM doesn't talk to the main diagnositcs

Jesper - The light is now only flashing sometimes.  When it does flash, it starts about 15 minutes into my commute (no traffic, few lights).

Carl - Thanks!  I wasn't aware of that site

Bill - not sure of your email address either.  I'm not noticing any difference in the drive of the car with the light flashing.  Would I notice anything with a C solennoid?  There is possibly a 'hard shift' into park, but I need to check on that if it happens tomorrow

Thanks again!  I hope to figure this out soon and post it to help the next poor sole that this happens to

Can you tell me if you had any more "hard shifts" into park and if so, what
did you have to have done to your car?
