Just buy it from a dealer, or leave the whole thing off; what does it
do anyway, besides keep water off the engine;if you hit something
solid it's worthless

I know I can get it from the dealer but I'd rather save some$$$.  I
know its not great protection but without it a lot of stuff is totally
exposed.   I wish they had some metal skidplates.

Subaru stated that the "undercover" is for engine cooling and
aerodynamics as well as rode debris protection. So it is important in
spite of what self appointed experts say.

BULLSHIT

Nah, it's likely true. many plastic bits have a purpose. On some cars,
even the plastic cover on the battery is to cool it or shield it from heat.
FHI likely has wind tunnel tests indicating both aero and cooling
advantages to the the shield. Doesn't mean you car is gonna self
destruct without of course!
There MAY be some aftermarket metal ones - ask around at
www.ultimatesubaru.org - lots of offroad soob guys there.

Also, check, www.subarugenuineparts.com

How about just cleaning the area around the opening and just using duct tape
each oil change.
