Creak Noise When Braking

For lack of a better term my car makes a creak noise or soft cracking
noise when applying the brakes but the noise does not seem to be
coming from the brakes but from under passenger side of car. When I
leave in the morning and make the same right turn while applying the
brakes I will hear a loud crack. If I turn around and try it a second
time it won't do it so it's like cracking a knuckle or something. As I
continue driving I can still hear it during braking but it's not as
loud and doesn't do it all the time. I've been to the dealer a couple
of times under warranty and they didn't hear it. The dealer told me
the Subaru does not require lubrication under the car.  My next step
is to purchase a recording device so I can prove my claim.  Has
anybody every tried this and what type of recording device would be
best to pick up a noise like this....if any experience?  My car is
approx 2 years old and has been making this annoying sound for the
past 10 months so I'm at my wit's end. Any help would be much
appreciated and once the car is fixed I will post the problem so
somebody else won't have to go through this.

2006 Forester 2.5x 38k miles.

I've had this, though not in a Subaru, from loose/broken sway-bar
mounting on the chassis. Check other suspension mount points also.
The sway-bar problem caused a small click coinciding with turn-in
body roll. Your braking noise is likely from a different suspension
component being loose.

Thanks, for your suggestion! What I have discovered is now every time
I back the car up to the left or to the right it makes the crack
noise. It seems like the longer I wait between attempts the louder it
is. You need to wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before attempts or it
won't do it all. Plus as security I'm going to attempt to record the
noise just in case the dealer can't hear it. Since I have taken the
car twice to Subaru for this same problem while under the initial 36k
warranty, I'm going to insist it be fully covered because now I have a
deductible.

Subaru dealers are notorious for lousy service departments.
