I have been having all my services done at the Subaru dealer here in
town. Due to the schedules and the holidays I will need to have an oil
& filter done at an independent shop. Is there anything unique about
oil & filter change on a 2005 Subaru Forester XT (Turbo) that I need
to be concerned with?
.
I remember when I had a 65 VW Variant, that you had to use a new
copper gasket/washer on the drain plug to prevent leaks & damage to
the case from over tightening.
.
Is there anthing like this that I need to purchase from the dealer and
make available to the independent shop so the job is done according to
Subie standards?
.
BTW, the independent is not a quicky lube and has a good reputation
and track record in the community.
.
Thanks in advance.

I change my own on regular '03 Forester but need washers for oil plug
and bought several from dealer.  Other shops should have them.
