Thanks to all who replied... 96 Subaru Legacy Outback 2.5
What is the normal RPM's cold idle and warm ?
Cold idle now at 1500.
I  think I'm going to like this vehicle but have much to learn. I have just
about mastered the MGB and WV Golf/Rabbit, and 89 K5 Blazer......

Cold idle at 1500 sounds a lil high, but how cold is cold?  I only had
high rpms when cold (in FLorida) after using an off brand fuel.  Are u
using ethanol"ed" fuel?

Idle when hot should be around 750 +/- 50

I'm in Texas and even a 'cool' morning will give me 1200-1500 hundred
for a a short while.

Cold morning gives me 12-15K as well in both cars.  I live in Eastern Canada
and its an 04 STi and 06 Forester.

Hi:

Tried it this morning: (2 degrees celsius).

1500 for about 3 minutes
1000 for another 3 minutes
Then I got bored and drove away.. ;)

The tachometer in my 2002 Legacy *seems* to be out of scale between 0 and
100, with two lines only, one thicker than the other. My car seems to idle
at about 750, sometimes dipping down, sometimes bumping up a bit. The idle,
for me, is a bit lumpy, bordering on rough, but (after many recent repairs),
it doesn't stall, (although, again, given my recent experience, I am always
afraid it might... ;))
