My 95 Legacy L, with 160K miles, wouldn't start today......brand new battery, purchased a couple of weeks ago, and the car has worked fine since I bought the battery. Now, when I turn the key, everything lights up, but, all I get is a "clicking" noise.....the car doesn't even try to turn-over. Any ideas?? Best, John The clicking sound is the solenoid (wherever its located). Check battery clamps, wires, connections to the solenoid? Of course the fact that the battery is new doesn't mean its good...already had a top of the line battery fail on me this winter after only a couple of months use (replaced under warranty). Generally speaking, this is all that fails on the subie starter. Mine can be pulled slightly out of position the result of which is turning the ignition key and nothing happens. Could be your starter is seized. What's the voltage across the battery?
