Does anyone have a schematic of the brake lines for a 1996 Subaru
Legacy Outback AWD & Automatic Tranny.
I am attempting to replace the rear brake lines and need to see where
all the paths are and if I am able to do it.
Thank you.

Hi,
Why don't you crawl under and look? Or shop manual will show details.

Of course I did that, I am looking to see what happens behind the gas
tank before dive in....
I was hoping someone might be willing to snap a photo of a page in
their manual and post it here or email me. I live in the sticks and
with out a car, tough to get my hands on the manual - short notice.
Thanks!

Since I did not receive any responses for a schematic, is there anyone
who has taken the gas tank off and seen what the brake lines do back
there?
If you could just take a minute and drop me a line I would greatly
appreciate it.
Thank You,
Joey

Joey, you might try asking/poking around at www.ultimatesubaru.org .
Those guys sometimes know where some pics are posted of odd repairs,
mods, etc.

good luck

Thank you Carl,
I appreciate knowing about that forum. Didn't find any info over
there.
No car for three weeks now. The last time I bought gas it was $3.22 a
gallon. Now it is $3.70. I have been riding my bike in to town, 12
miles each way 4 times a week. Lost 17 pounds so far.
If anyone has replaced their brake lines in the rear of the 1996
legacy outback, I would love to hear from you. If you have any other
info, please feel free to send in on as well.
Thanks

I know you said you lived 'in the sticks' but if there is a similar
model in a nearby junkyard, they might be be able to let you take a
look. Might even be worth a six-pack or a handful of lotto tickets to
talk them into it!
Did you post your question at USMB? maybe someone will respond.
Also, one other possibility would be to email Jamie (of www.subigal.com
fame) who works at an online dealer (Chaplins??? I dunno). Contact her
through www.subarugenuineparts.com and see if she has a drawing she
could email back to you.
Also, I THINK there may be some access panel under the seat to at least
one side of the tank where the pump is. I've never been in there but
maybe that would give you some clues?

good luck

could try www.nasioc.com too.
