Alignment req'd after halfshaft?

I'm wondering if a front end alignment is required after a halfshaft
replacement. I recently had the latter done to my 1999 Forester and
shortly thereafter went on a road trip at highway speeds. I thought I
noticed just a bit of new squirreliness in the steering.

Alternatively to the alignment: are there components that need to be
loosened in order to swing the wheel assembly out to clear the end of
the halfshaft? Could something have been left loose there?

Any thoughts/experiences? Thanks!

Need alignment? If it's done the right way, no. If the shop leaves it t
someone who disassembles all of the outboard steering and suspensio
components to pull it out, yes... and the second way costs about thre
times more too! You live & learn...

If it doesn't feel the same &/or right, then it probably isn't, *unless
it's been weeks since you last drove it. Why not take it back and nicel
ask them to drive it, check it over and check the alignment. Probabl
makes a good customer relations exercise for them as long as you'r
pleasant. Cheers
