I replaced my brakes 95 Legacy and then realized I needed I to replace
my rotors too. I have replaced rotors on my other cars but never had
one where something held the caliper on. I am having a tough time
getting the two bolts off that hold that part on. I got a propain
torch and held it on the head of the bolf for a min or two. Spread
WD40 and hit the bolt with a hammer.
This did not work and when I put all weight on the wrench it broke the
head of the extention off. I like to do most of the work my car work
myself but I am not sure how to get this bolt off and I am worried if
I mess with it more I will break the head off.
Any ideas on what I can do? I guess a mechanic would not do anything
worse since it is so locked in.
Thanks!
Jim

I would expect the spannerman to use an air impact driver or breaker bar
and a true hex socket the bolts are high tensile steel so they should
be well able to take the punishment. As an aside I just replaced the
discs on a 300Tdi Landrover Discovery the caliper bolts are slightly
different being a bihex design I used a bihex socket and 18 inch breaker
bar working in both directions to free them off when I reassembled I
used copaslip grease to ensure they didn't sieze again

6-point high quality wrench and a good whack with a 3 lb brass hammer has
never failed me.

I've had good luck using PB Blaster Penetrating Catalyst.
Good luck,
