It could also be the shitty receiver in the car.
My 2001 has never worked properly (bought it used). Works sometimes,
sometimes not. New batteries make no difference.
I can get it to go with four or five hits standing right at the windshield.
Which, of course defeats the purpose of a REMOTE door lock if you gotta
stand right there for it to work.
I will check my valet mode, but those years, the remote/receiver combo was
crap.

Agreed. I don't know how many times I've walked around the car pushing the
button. Eventually, it has always worked but not this time. However, I
went out this morning and, out of habit, hit the button and it worked. So
WTF. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Thanks.

I can get a few feet more range if I hold the remote on or under my chin.
still - 30 feet is about the max with no cars near by.

Maybe your fillings attenuate the signal. I'll give it a try.
