I have a 2001 Subaru Outback and when it's in Park with the key on and
step on the brake, it makes a fairly loud clicking noise between th
radio and the glove box. Only happens when the key is on.
When in Reverse or Drive... and I step on the brake it doesn't mak
this noise.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advanc

The noise is caused by the shifter lock solenoid, the one that prevents
shifting into gear unless you are stepping on the brake pedal.
Good luck

My 03 Outback doesn't have the solenoid click or the need to put the brake
on before shifting..... again normal I suppose...probably a different
gearbox?
