just wait for it to break? That's about 114,000 miles

It's a '99 XLE V6 (NI Engine I trust)

Why dont you just read and follow the manual. You could just let it
break, on a dark rainfilled highway with semis bearing down on you,
that might be fun for you.

Could be, but I don't do much driving on freeways anymore, and I do
have AAA.

If you're not afraid of tow trucks, just wait.  If you're scared of being
stranded, change it.

You don't live in snow country, do you?  That could get inconvenient,
if you got stranded while it's snowing.

Actually I live in the Great White North, but I never leave the city
in the winter time.

BTW, How much is a timing belt/water pump change in the USA?
