I think that, if you really look, aside from one thread, pretty much all
we do in this newsgroup is discuss the Prius.  And, even in that one
thread, there hasn't actually been any political discussion, just
everyone telling the OP that such discussion is inappropriate and
off-topic here.

So, please, bring it on!  :-)

Personally, I don't like long back-and-forth threads in which there is lots
of smoke and little light. That applies even to tangential topics like
synthetic vs. 'dino' oil, but I shrug and accept that oil choice does apply
to actual Prius ownership issues.

For political topics and quasi-political topics (controversial issues not
important to Prius ownership) I'd rather not be annoyed by them, whether or
not I agree with the original premise. I accept there are people here with
political views very different from mine, but I also know most of them are
too refined to go on about it in this forum. I've made the mistake of
joining those discussions in the past and I'm sorry I did. I'm working on
that.
