I have an 86 toyota 22re fuel injected truck. The Charge light and
the brake light have decided to stay on for no reason. If I rev up
the RPMs real high the lights goe out.
What do I replace or check to fix this problem?
P.S. I think that this problem is with many of these 86 trucks
because I also have a 86 with a 22R truck that has a similar problem.
Any suggestions?

Does your battery charge?
Have you checked the charge lamp relay? On celicas, it's behind the kick
panel on the driver's side.. Not sure about a pickup, but I would imagine
it's close to the same spot. Mine fried once and the thing wouldn't charge
(and the light stayed on). Replaced it with a junkyard unit ($90 from the
dealer) and it's been fine since.
check to out put of your alternator

This is the classic sign of worn brushes inside the alternator. You can get the new brush assembly from Toyota and its an easy install. Should fix it right up. Other possibilities are a faulty voltage regulator or charge relay/fuse:

If you have an automatic, it is 100% likely to be a failing alternator.
If you have a manual, it is most likely to be a failing alternator.

Well, the 'failure' in this case, could, possibly be a loose, worn,
slipping alternator belt, but is most likely the brushes in the alternator.
good luck!

Lots of interesting responses that mostly point to the alternator.
Why is the brake light on also?
P.S. Drove the truck 40 miles today with no lights lit.
Thanks

Robert,
I had a similar problem with the brake light on my '86 sticking on. After
some investigation, it was only the wiring for my emergency brake. I had
an inclination of that because it would turn off and on when I hit bumps
and such. I don't know a lot about what trips these lights, but you may
want to check your brake fluid also.
