shifting

mostly when i go from 1st to 2nd or when i downshift to second it is real
rough and hard to get in gear.  It acts like something is in the way but i
dont know what it is or what to do.....any suggestions?

There is a dark green plastic/nylon spacer or washer at bottom end of you
shifter - they frequently breack and move around causing shifting difficulty
and even popping out of gear.  There as a detailed article on line at the
Toyota 4x4 or off road site but I couldn't locate it.  Take shift boot off,
remove 4 bolts and shifter and you'll see it at end of shifter stick.

Igot it off and see the green plastic peice i made new holes in it and fit
it up. It doesnt seem like it was in the way but should i get a complete
new one or just rig it like i did.....or could it be something else?
