My friend just had her timing belt replaced last week. She took a road
trip (250 miles maybe) this weekend and on her way into work this
morning, she threw a rod. What are the chances these two things are
related? She talked to the mechanic (same one she's been going to for
years) and he tells her that the rod was in the rear of the engine and
the timing belt doesn't look to have been the cause. If it's not the
timing belt, could something else in the replacement of the timing belt
have cause the thrown rod?

i dont think a timming belt job could cause a rod to let loose,,,
that rod was probably ready to go anyway,,should have heard it knocking
tho,,,
