I just bought a 2002 Tundra Limited Access Cab. Everything is great,
except there is a clicking sound coming from the dashbaord area that is
driving me nuts! I can't seem to locate the source, but it is quite
loud and only occurs when the vehicle is moving. Any ideas, help!!!
Thanks, Jonny

Does the speedo waver when your travelling along? This may be a dry speedo
cable, if so remove speedo and dash instruments and pour some light oil down
the tube. Solved my horrible noise.

My 02 has an intermittant dashboard click that comes and goes; mostly it
isnt' there.  Happened since new, never found it, never looked.

I get an occasional noise from the drink holder in the dash when it is
extended. Push it a little bit and the noise goes away.  Also cups and cans
in the holder can cause noise.  The noise I can't get rid of sounds like it
is coming from the windshield touching metal.  Only happens with windy
conditions and temperature below 50 degrees.  Never have figured out what
causes it.

Some folks have bought a piece of the round foam caulking material
from a hardware store and jammed that into the space between the
glass and the dash.

That works well. You can find the stuff at Home Depot. It comes in rolls
and various diameters. Just cut it to length and stuff it in the space
between the dash and the windshield.

I've had to do this as well.  Short of taking the dash apart, the foam stuff
worked very well.

I've read the other posts and there are probably inherent problems on later
trucks that I am unaware.  My 84 has a ticking that comes from the
dash/speedo area.  Oiling the cable does not help.  This noise comes from
the speedo unit itself and I have never been able to determine what makes
it.  I have never torn the unit apart because I did not want to be accused
of tampering with the odometer.  This noise comes and goes and I do not know
what stimilates it.

2000 with same issue - take the AC control knobs loose and then remove
screws behind them.  Screws in AC vents need to be removed.  Remove center
section of dash - apply liberal coating of clear silicone - careful not to
get it where you don't want it - reinstall and let dry with all doors open
over night.

Fixed my issue.

This noise comes from the far left (driver's) side of the dash,
somewhere above the parking brake pedal and the windshield. It is a
clicking or ticking noise that is almost always there. Pushing on the
dash at various places doesn't help, it is quite loud and is a real
anoyance. Thanks for all your feedback on this, I'll let you know if I
figure it out. Jonny

Mine's the same, but much quieter, and mostly isn't there.  I've tried
pressing this and that dash pieces, nothing helps it.  I figure its
something inside the dash, which I couldn't bother with.  Yours sounds much
more annoying.

While the engine going or just while the cars in motion?

Just while the car is moving, a loud clicking that sounds in response
to bumps and turns, very irregular, but persistant. It's not related to
speed, but the truck must be moving!! ???? J

I just had that problem in my 04 Tundra double cab, the dealer spent
days tracking it down before giving up on it and sending it out to the
body shop. Turns out it was a missed weld in the door pillar in front of
the passenger side front door. They had the Truck for a week to figure
it out.

It's time we all start making a loud clicking noise on the head of every
Toyota tech in the country.  Every Tundra owner I've ever spoken to has
this same issue with dashboard clicking.  Mine comes from the back left
corner of the passenger airbag.  Isn't it about time Toyota admitted the
problem exists and issues a Service Bulletin?!

Heh, like Toyota gives a sweet one about us once the sale is made...

I'll second that. Worst customer service ever. I enjoy my tundra, but
I'll never buy another Toyota product.
