Just bought new Tundra V8 and love it except gas mileage. Figured it
wouldn't be the best being a V8, but its a little less than I expected.
Just wondering what others are getting around town and on the highway.
Thanks,
Paul

12-14 mpg around town, 15-17 mpg highway. This is @ 5000' elevation and
above in Colorado. When I'm loaded with riding gear, camping gear, food,
water, gas, etc. with 3 dirtbikes in tow on a 3-rail trailer, I get around
12-14 mpg highway at 75 mph. In mountain or hilly terrain when loaded
and/or towing, I leave overdrive off ...
Good ridin' to ya,

114,000 miles on my '03, average 45k per year. Overall average MPG is
a touch under 17, though my last few tanks have been significantly
lower... dunno if it's the new tires or they've change gas formula
again.
Discounting the recent couple of tanks, I'll run about 15.5 to 16
around town, and about 18 on the highway if I keep the speed down to
70. Above 75 it starts to drop, below 65 it can get as good as 21mpg.

Hello,
I recently purchased a used 2003 Tundra regular cab 4x4 with 11,000 miles. I
like the truck but have a VERY annoying 'chirp n squeak' coming from the
rear suspension ( I know it's behind the cab at least ) only when I hit
bumps in the road. Does anyone else have this problem ? Also, the driver
side window rattles a bit when it's in the half-up position and hitting
bumps -- but this is a minor annoyance next to the 'chirp squeak' that
sounds metallic .
Thanks,
-Mike

2002 Tundra 4WD SR5 V8 AccessCab, 23k miles.
I get roughly 16-20 mpg on the highway, depending on traffic, A/C on or
off, etc.
I rarely drive in town, so I can't comment on that mileage.

Could those of you providing MPG results mention if you are using 87
89, or 90+ octane for your results?
Thanks.
Also, is there anybody out there who will admit to owning a V6 Tundr
and what their mileage is on which fuel?
I am going to buy a 2001-2003 Tundra Access Cab SR5, but don't kno
which engine to get.
Thanks for opinions & suggestions.

I have a 2002 6 cylinder Access Cab. I get about 16 mpg around town, and
have gotten 22 on the road. I only use 87 octane as that is all the manual
calls for.
