Some dumb questions, first:
1) Proper oil level ensured? Low oil could do it?
2) Antifreeze & cooling system look OK?
3) Has the sensor/guage been swapped out? Could be faulty?
If the cylinder compression is good, and no oil is coming out of the
crankcase [either exterior-wise or cooling system], then I think the
indicator must be lying??
