Why not use the new 4.0 litre V6 or older 3.4V6 or 4Litre V8?
Or even better if you can get your hands on a 3.0 TD.

The older 3.4 V-6 requires either a 2" body lift or a hood scoop which
I would prefer not to do. I am also looking at this from a gas
mileage point of view. The only thing I tow with my truck is a light
boat so the 2.7 liter engine has enough torque and more horsepower
that my original 150 HP 3.0 V-6. The 2.7 liter engine has been around
long enough that it is also readily available.
