Toyota truck, 22R Auto. I'm trying to put a 1984 head on a 1985 block. 1984
Timing chain too long, 1985 chain too short.
Can this be done? Please help if you can.
Thanks!

No.
The 84 head is different that the 85 head, as are the blocks.
The 84 head is thicker, has round exhaust ports.
The 85 has pear shaped exhaust ports.
Some parts do cross over, like the rocker arm assembly, main crank, and
the cam.
The heads and blocks are different between those 2 series of 22Rs.
The third type of 22R is the turbo.

1985-1995 22R/22RE will interchange.
