Just a follow up on a suggestion I received in this forum to try Castrol
Syntec blend to prevent the oil foaming which was occurring on my '06
Tundra. I have about 2K miles on the 5w-30 Syntec blend now and this
absolutely cleared it up. No more gunky foam all over the inside of the
filler cap like I was getting with conventional Penzoil 5w-30. I am
considering going to straight Syntec next oil change since it seems like the
price is not much more then the blend.
Thanks!

I use Castrol 5W-30 (as recommendation in the manual) in my 06 Tundra.
No foaming at all.

ANYTHING but Penzoil in my experience. I've only used it twice and had
grief both times (Pennzoil 5W30 - lost oil pressure within 50 miles of
the change. Dumped it and replaced with Shell and Castrol premium
conventonal oils and the oil pressure came right back. Not sure if it
was foaming or viscosity breakdown or a combination - but what came
out of the warm crankcase in both cases was about as thin a kerosene.
Two differnt vehicles. Same problem. Same solution. Neither vehicle
has had the problem before or since.
Only had that problem one other time, with the cheapest ESSO motor oil
you could buy at a lube-shop (came in a green can).
In all 3 cases the oil light came on at highway speeds. With the
Penzoil, it went out at idle and came back on as soon as the engine
was sped up to about 2000 RPM. With the ESSO it never went out.

Ditto that about Pennzoil being sh.t. I used it back in the seventies and
there was always a foamy gelled goo in the oil cap and valve covers.
