Hi all,
Its about that time to replace the clutch in my 2wd, 22r, Toyota
Pickup. I've done the job once before in my old pickup, however I am
hoping I can save myself some time.
I've heard that its possible to replace only the clutch disc, but
leave the flywheel and original pressure plate instead of
resurfacing/replacing them (providing they are not gouged by the
rivets.)
Has anyone tried this or know whether this is a viable idea?
TIA,
Tom

You'll have to check, because if the flywheel is rough or gouged it may
chatter to shudder when rolling out.
And doesn't the new clutch come with a new pressure plate?
All the After market ones we sold did.

Tom,
It's possible, although worn friction disk generally means heat, which
generally means springs that are distorted or have lost temper.
Unless you *enjoy* doing clutch jobs, I'd recommend that you resurface the
flywheel and replace pressure plate, disk, throwout and pilot bearings. Why
go in more often than you have to?
