A Troll - 27 Oct 2006 02:56 GMT >ENOUGH OF THE DEMOPUBLICAN-REPUBLICRAT CRAP ALREADY! Second that notion. All these spamers that insist on conducting their stupid half baked toilet function in public view in this NG..
High Tech Misfit - 27 Oct 2006 03:06 GMT > ENOUGH OF THE DEMOPUBLICAN-REPUBLICRAT CRAP ALREADY! Put that Outhouse Express filter to use if you don't like it. It is not mandatory to read each and every post in a newsgroup anyway.
I don't read those posts, but I don't squawk about it; I just ignore them.
L Neely - 29 Oct 2006 22:41 GMT True, but it doesn't make it any less... f.cking annoying. <3

DH - 27 Oct 2006 03:07 GMT > ENOUGH OF THE DEMOPUBLICAN-REPUBLICRAT CRAP ALREADY! It's not a "site," it's a NewsGroup. If you don't like the anarchic way it works, you can get moderated Toyota information elsewhere.

Truckdude - 27 Oct 2006 08:51 GMT > ENOUGH OF THE DEMOPUBLICAN-REPUBLICRAT CRAP ALREADY! No, it is not a "site." Maybe you should figure out where the hell you are before you start issuing directives. You will look a lot less like a moron. (ok, a little less)
EB - 27 Oct 2006 11:37 GMT > ENOUGH OF THE DEMOPUBLICAN-REPUBLICRAT CRAP ALREADY! Yup, I could do without this too, though I just try to ignore it, it just adds to the clutter unnecessarily.
There are plenty of NG for political topics, so I haven't quite figured out why people do this on a Toyota group. If there was no other venue I could understand it. I have plenty of political opinions too (and I have read some pretty objectionable stuff here) but I won't voice them here.

Anybody might end up having something interesting to contribute about the primary subject of this NG. Or, if not, maybe they'll post something about Toyotas. ;-)

I suppose it could be argued that the discussions that occur here are part of the Toyota 'lifestyle', since it (used to) take a differrent breed of person to drive a Toyota in the first place!
Coyoteboy - 27 Oct 2006 18:36 GMT > There are plenty of NG for political topics, so I haven't quite > figured out why people do this on a Toyota group. If there [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > > eb Because A) They cant post them on a political NG due to their comments not being worthy of reading by those who are actually interested in the subject - so they dont get a bite and come here. B) Because they are incapable of holding their own with people who care about the discussion and have actually invested time and effort in answering. Coming here they know they'll get pointless banter with no real outcome and no-one really gives a damn apart from those who complain it shouldnt be here.

I know up front that I'll never turn Scott and dbu into fire-breathing Democrats, eager to lay down their lives for Hillary, any more than they'll have me advising my loved ones that Bush is the savior of mankind. In the automotive area, no one will ever convince a rabid Nissan Z car lover that a Toyota Supra is a better car. That's what makes horse races and baseball games.

Very good horse sense Mack. A frend of mine passed away a few months ago, his nickname was Mac and he was a stout democrat. We used to have hard discussions about politics only face to face and not on the internet. --

Sorry you lost your pal (argumentative as he was).
Have you ever heard of an argument of any kind which ends with one or the other party to it slapping his forehead and exclaiming 'Gee, you've got the right idea! How could I have been such an idiot all these years! Thanks for letting me see the light!"
.....no, I didn't think so.

The only argument I can see that actually wins is one backed up by accurate facts which can be documented.
Let's say a friend says "the P-47 thunderbolt had a strong liquid cooled engine." and you say "no, it was a radial, and air cooled." You can then present him with an armful of aircraft encyclopedias which state that fact. In that case, the friend has to admit that he was indeed wrong.
But on subjects like politics or religion, I seriously doubt you can change someone's mind and have that person come over to your side. Look at the eternal debate about evolution and 'intelligent design' or whatever they choose to call it.

I've actually turned liberals into conservatives.

SAMMM - 28 Oct 2006 14:14 GMT as the original poster, i have no quarrel with people discussing anything; it's just that it clutters the newsgroup so badly. i'm looking for info pertaining to toyotas... my best, sammm

And ive done the same myself.

Everyone I meet and question....always seem to come down to that observation after their initial 'hate Bush' speak...

I had a rather wordy paragraph about him but i chose not to use it. You would have liked him. He was from the old Democrat school. Retired from NWA. I visited with him during his last days. Mind still sharp as a tack. I can go on and on about all he accomplished in his life, but I won't. Good guy and missed for sure. --

If you feel like it, you can email your thoughts.
I love people like Mac.

The Datsun 240Z was an excellent car. The 260Z was almost as good. They've gone downhill from there. :-)
How about the Mazda Miata or RX-8, or the Honda S2000?
:-) Coyoteboy - 27 Oct 2006 22:56 GMT > "Coyoteboy" <coyoteboyuk@hotmail.com> wrote in message Coming here they > know they'll get pointless banter with no [quoted text clipped - 10 lines] > lover that a Toyota Supra is a better car. > That's what makes horse races and baseball games. Thats what i hate about sports arguments and political arguments mainly, though all arguments really. Whats the point in arguing if youre not going to come to a definitive conclusion at the end? If you arent going to draw a sensible, or humorous, conclusion from a conversation it isnt worth having IMO. But then you guys find a lot of this stuff humorous so i guess thats why you do it. Arguments are a waste of space - debates with a logical outcome are my preferred route. Since on the internet you cant limit your discussion to those with a halfway-logical outlook on life i dont get involved with arguments on here! Well, not much!
In fact, by my definition this whole post i just wrote was pointless. Damn.

And, we like discussion issues almost as much as we like discussing Toyotas! If you have a question or a comment, please feel free! There are a lot of knowledgable people here to help you with whatever.
Otherwise, Scotty will give you a.... ;)

n5hsr - 30 Oct 2006 06:43 GMT > ENOUGH OF THE DEMOPUBLICAN-REPUBLICRAT CRAP ALREADY! Yes, but comparitively speaking Toyotas are so reliable, we don't have as much to talk about as some other groups like the Fix Or Repair Daily group.
(Knock wood, or in my case, I'm sure several members will suggest my head.)
