Built_Well - 12 Mar 2007 17:33 GMT "Jesus never ascended to heaven," say thought-provoking Jews.
I guess you heard a couple weeks ago about the new film by the director of "Titanic," James Cameron. The film proclaims the bones of Jesus have been discovered on Earth, thereby calling into question the Christian belief that Jesus rose to heaven after death, body and all.
Shucks, I could have told the Jews that. Any atheist or agnostic could have :-)
Now that Jews have found the bones of Jesus, all we need is for Jews to find the so-called "Ark of the Covenant." Of course, they'll never find that because it doesn't exist, unlike Jesus' bones ;-)
I hate to criticize Jews because of all the suffering they experienced during the 20th Century, but they are just overly obsessed with Jesus of Bethlehem. Even an atheist like myself clearly recognizes that.
Still, I look forward to seeing the film. It's going to be a hoot! :-) James Cameron is a great filmmaker, without question. Only a great director could go so easily from drama to comedy [chuckle].
But in all seriousness, Cameron is one of my favorite directors. Love his films...The Terminator (1 and 2), Aliens (second in the series), True Lies (with Jamie Lee Curtis), The Abyss, Titanic. This new one is gonna be his best ever, though ;-)
I wanted to resist going Off-Topic. So I apologize to Ray O for my lapse. I also hope the Jews in the newsgroup don't get too upset at what I said. It's all in good fun. You know me; I make fun of all religions. How many times have I had fun with my former Christian beliefs? Shalom Out :-) Translation: "Peace Out"

Maybe Jesus Angleton, the famous super-paranoid chief of counter-intelligence for the C.I.A. during the Cold War era.

Mike Hunter - 12 Mar 2007 19:08 GMT Even if one DID find the bones of Jesus the Nazarene what would be the big deal? Would you no longer believe that Jesus arose dead? Hardly,.if one is a Christen they know you have no need of your earthly body.

But, you're right. The existance of Jesus's bones (although I believe the only thing that was found was the container for his bones, not the bones themselves) doesn't really add to the information in the Bible.

Signature These photos are only of a very tiny fraction of the thousands of Iraqi Civilian Victims who have been terrorised, humiliated, injured, maimed and killed through British and American bombing of civilian areas in various cities of Iraq. Due to lack of security, independent reporters could not and still can not reach many areas to photograph and report the atrocities. Several independent reporters and journalists were deliberately bombed to prevent them reporting the atrocities.
Please note that some of these pictures are not suitable for small children and those who have weak hearts.

n5hsr - 13 Mar 2007 02:50 GMT >>Now that Jews have found the bones of Jesus > > Which Jesus? Yep, that's what I want to know. Joshua, or in Greek, Jesus, was a fairly common first name in those days.
How many Hispanics named Jesus have you known? I've known quite a few over the years, it's one of the fairly common first names.
And since last names hadn't quite become an exact science in 30 AD, how do we know that this Jesus is from Nazereth and the son of Joseph (and Mary) and the half-brother of James and Joses and Simon and Judas?
Charles of Schaumburg.

If so, I'd agree.
Speaking of Jesus and His works, I was awestruck when visiting the LDS Info Center (or whatever it's called) in SLC, Utah many years ago. The audience was composed of 100% non-Mormons, and when the host started speaking about Jesus' teachings upon His resurrection, he mentioned His spending time in Hawaii, teaching. You could almost hear the jaws dropping, and I was glad I wasn't drinking a glass of milk during the presentation, because I know it would have come out of my nose.

Hang Bush - 13 Mar 2007 02:19 GMT > This is yet another attempt to disprove Jesus' divinity. It has been > going on for two thousand years, how is this any different? What difference would it make to you anyway? Your beliefs are "faith based" delusions. You don't need facts.
Religion is the biggest scam in the world. It's stock in trade is ignorance and violence and stupidity.
Jesus is often used by fat preaching hustlers in order to herd vulnerable people, prone to fears around their imminent demise, into stuffy churches, where they can be manipulated and controlled, in order to exploit their economic and political resources. - Someone
I think religion is so popular because even the village idiot can feel like Einstein without any effort.

Proof of Jesus' divinity comes from a personal relationship with the Creator. If one opens their mind up they will experience the power of Him. It is precisely those who look for every reason to feel superior over their fellow man that will grasp upon yet another flimsy "fact" to flaunt their ignorance.
I can say this from personal experience since I was a self-avowed atheist 21 years ago, had a spiritual experience, and only became a Christian 7 years ago after investigating every avenue possible to claim Christianity the biggest farce ever created. My arguments consistently fell short when I examined them against available proof, tired old arguments, and ultimately stepping out on faith. Only then did the truth appear to me, but not until I was willing to open the door of willingness, honesty, and open-mindedness.
