Went down to W.Spfld today, about 35 miles from home. The St. Patrick's
day parade was happening in Holyoke, about 1/2 way, and they closed a
couple exits on I-91 going into Holyoke to keep the parade route clear.

Needless to say, there were State Cops ALL OVER the place. I passed one of
the closed exits, but when I got to the other side where the ramp onto the
highway was a New Charger R/T came up like a bat, got onto the highway,
and then came up right on my @ss, FAST!!! he kept back enough so I could
see the front of the car, and then I noticed the plate was weird...it was
a State plate.

He swung out, and in my car, with the radio on as loud as usual, I could
HEAR the engine inside my car, and could even feel it. In seconds, he
passed by me like a shot, and probably hit ~100 in a couple seconds more.
As he went by me I saw the plate said STATE on the side and OFFICIAL at
the bottom, and there were 3-4 high frequency (800MHz or greater) antennas
on the trunk. He was getting off at the next exit, so he had to really
move to beat the traffic to the exit.

Don't know if it was a cop, but it was dark blue with dark tinted windows
(much darker than state law allows...)

I'll forward this to hubby - he'll be more interested in the parade, though.

LOL

Maybe it used to be a drug dealer's car?
Around here and most of the USA the big deal is to bust a drug dealer
confiscate the vehicle and the force gets to keep it.   Some of the
local police forces have nice SUV vehicles to use because of this.
Fourth photo down shows how this works,  anyone want to guess when and
where the confiscation of property will end?

There have been news articles about Dodge offering the first new
"Police package" in years on the Charger.

That's what he saw.

Uhhhhh . . . and who cares??

That's gotta be the biggest marketing hype with the least behind it in
the automotive world . . . .

My 1965 Triumph TR6R motorcycle has hemispherical heads (650CC
parallel twin). It's a pretty nice old machine, but hardly high
performance -- in spite of having a Hemi!

Check out the latest Motor Trend - they have a comparison of the police
versions of the Dodge Charger, Ford Crown Victoria, and Chevy Impala.  The
Charger was the fastest, the CV roomiest, and the Impala best fuel economy.
The IL State Police now have some Chargers in service, along with the
Impalas and CV's.  I happened to see a Dodge Magnum K-9 car today too!
