Jeff Strickland - 26 May 2007 02:21 GMT I can't stand the Left, but I put my life on the line for them to be that way.
For all of the other Vets out there that have done the same, or are still doing it, thanks you guys.
I wish I could do more for you than just a heart-felt Thanks.

I was fortunate not to be called to make the ultimate sacrifice, but I appreciate this, speaking for my former Air Force active duty self, and my currently active duty hubby.

I'm a Viet Nam Era Vet, but I did my time at Nellis. The guys that went in one week before me went to Thailand for 18 months. I was with the F111As doing flightline work on the radio systems.

dizzy - 28 May 2007 04:15 GMT >You are so envious of Jeff it's pitiful. That's a good one. What would I be "envious" about? His ability to shove his head up his a.s? His ability to lie shamelessly?

His ability to lie shamelessly? You have to respond to every post he makes with sarcastic comments and vulgarity directly relating to him. He merely states his opinion about a subject and doesn't make personal attacks against you. There is quite a difference in maturity level there.

mack - 27 May 2007 17:06 GMT Each Memorial Day, I choose to remember some of the people I served with in Korea half a century ago. Although it was after the Korean War, a number of my colleagues died while serving in Korea. I recall well an R and R flight from K-14 to Japan which went awry just moments after takeoff, when a propellor came off and sliced through the cabin, and within minutes the Globemaster crashed onto a sandbar in the Han River and broke in half. Twenty-two people were killed and a number were injured. Two of those killed were from my Regiment, and I knew them both. Later in 1957, I watched from afar as a man who had been filling field stoves with gasoline was splashed with fuel and caught fire. I still remember hearing his screams from over one hundred yards away. He died in about a week. No, these people were not killed on the battlefield, but died in the service of their country just the same. They were robbed of fifty years of life (at least) and I salute their memory today. R I P, comrades in arms.

AF vets have more intelligence than Army grunts so we tend to lean toward conservatism while those in the Army were most likely accepted with lower standards according to people like John Kerry. Navy squids are a mixed bag and you never know what you'll get with them -- if you know what I mean. Marine jarheads are just killing machines that do what they are told, which makes them perfect military personnel.

My father was twice Army, and I considered him pretty smart, rest his soul. I have his 1938 Company picture on my wall of honor.

Shh, we have a lot of Former Marines around the building here. My Dad got drafted for Korea, but he turned out to be too smart to be a grunt, so they sent him to the ASA.

Of course he will be one hell of a killing machine....that will NOT be all he will become
Another of my great friends is a 'grunt'. He was drafted. He is NOT below average....and oh by the way he killed a hell of a lot of gooks in Viet Nam before they damned near killed him.
It is fine for us to argue amongst ourselves....but your statement is obviously full of sh.t....IMHO

This is mild compared with how my buds and I talk.
The only people that can't make those comments are the cry babies that have never been in the military.

After I was incapacitated one time a Marine carried me several miles back to the base - didn't know him, didn't ever get to thank him....
