To the rest of you, I apologize for the rant and I hope there's a moderated Toyota group soon.

I agree the OT stuff is out of hand, but there are really very few who generally start the OT threads. Killfile anyone you find particularly offensive, and that should work. However, the ever-reliable Toyotas don't leave much room for on-topic musings.
Also, if you ever have a question about your car (Toyota or not), you get swift answers here.

download 0.14.2 (I don't like the newest version, but that's just me...) be sure to get the Windows version. Also, download the Gtk runtime. Install the runtime and then install Pan. Works great.
Or, load Linux and get Pan installed along with it!

But here, as with most Usenet forums, the posts are unmoderated. It's too bad, but it really comes down to if you really hate off-topic posts, perhaps this isn't the forum for you. There are lots of other Toyota forums, including MDT's Yahoo group, that one can frequent.
You and I both know that OT rants only get the flames going.

The OP got his dander up (That Guy) and then EdSpy took his part. I don't think I've ever seen That Guy's handle in this ng before, so I have to wonder who died and made him the great arbiter in the sky for the group. To me, an infrequent poster in any group really doesn't have the right (except in his own mind) to quibble about how the group operates and what should be considered OT postings. The old saying "If you don't like the heat, stay out of the kitchen" should apply. Anyway, there are subject lines in every post ...and if you're not interested in the subject, you can simply *****IGNORE***** the post(s).

There is nothing wrong with OT posts. They have to happen because we are not single idea beings. No matter what the context of any group, politics HAS to become part of the discussion landscape. But most of what passes for discussions are really some tablarasa personalities acting like O'Reilly, Hanity, Limbaugh.
I find many of the OT discussions here very interesting until the 3 or 4 loons drop in for some grade school bully banter.

In other words, you have to a number of searches and mass message deletions. By the time you finish, there's more of the things. Why not just stop posting political stuff here when there are political groups? I am starting to think it's a compulsion or addiction or something.
Also, I don't think this thread is off-topic. Any topic that concerns the newsgroup itself isn't off-topic, IMO. Some may disagree of course.
