Wouldn't it be cool to have the computer drive the car. All the driver
would have to do is sit back and monitor the instruments, LOL.
I was looking at GPS for jogging. They have the things you can wear
like a wristwatch, and it will tell distance and bunch of other stuff.
About a $150.

I got the Mio C310x $199 GPS (on sale) Jan 07, its designed for the
car, but it fits in your pocket easily when I walk. In the options, I
can select car, pedestrian, or bus route (never tried bus though). It
has a built in MP3 player and some websites teach you to hack the GPS
inorder to play video files loaded on a memory card, never tried to
hack it.
I have thomas guide map, it costs me about $20 and thats for Los
Angeles alone and another $20 for the California Atlas. At $199, I get
a GPS with maps for all states and Canada that fits on my pocket.

See if you can get a 'trial' unit.
It may not work well in that environment.

I use a stop watch. Maybe I won't invest now. I run a 10 minute mile
when I feel up to it, so a little bit of math will tell me how far I
ran, LOL...
