I don't think I'll hand out candy. I usually have to be in bed before 10
PM so I can do my 'paper route'.

I used to dress up and go to parties, but maybe I'm too old for that now?

I'm sure I will either be handing out candy or walking the neighborhood
with my four-year-old.  On second thoughts, maybe I'll volunteer for
overtime that week...

About 15-16 years ago, Minnesota Trick-or-Treaters went out in the famed
"Halloween Blizzard."  By the time people put the lights out, we had at
least 8 inches of heavy, wet snow down, with more coming.  We ended up
dragging some of the little kids around on a sled.  In the morning, some
areas had 30" or so of heavy, wet snow.

Every Halloween since then has seemed, somehow, not so bad.

I was returning from a radiography seminar in Chicago that afternoon so
I was in it and got as far as the Red Roof Inn in Woodbury around 7 PM.
I couldn't go any farther that night and was within 15 miles of the
house. That was the worse driving conditions I've ever been in.

I didn't have to drive during it and the next day I woke up, looked and
didn't even start to shovel the driveway until at least 10:00am.  I'm not a
cop, paramedic or firefighter, so society isn't served best by me getting on
the road when driving conditions are bad.

How long were you stuck in Woodbury?

I was there overnight, then in the morning getting ready to leave, my
vehicle (A Dodge) wouldn't start and had to have it towed.  It was
blowing and snowing still, blizzard conditions didn't let up until later
Saturday.  Turned out to be a frozen starter relay on the firewall.  I
finally pulled into the driveway about 4 PM.  The final 15 miles on
Saturday was still very slow going with the wind and ice covered roads.
It was a hell of a two days I'll not forget.  Luckly I did'nt wind up in
the ditch out in no mans land between Menomonie and Hudson.

We don't celebrate Halloween...just another bullshit commercial excuse to sell crap. We draw the heavy
drapes, turn off the lights and watch a DVD or surf the net. Oh yeah, and turn OFF the door bells.

Yes I know but it's still fun to get out my al gore mask and scare hell
out of the neighbor kids when they come to the door looking for treats.

Al Gore's not all that scary; I show 'em their share of the National Debt.
They run away screaming.

Scaring the kids by using an Al Gore mask goes way beyond the bounds of human decency. You could be held
responsible for permanently traumatizing the kiddies. Show some compassion, eh, and restrict yourself to
simply wearing a Billary mask. That way, they will be effectively lobotomized and won't even be aware of
their own suffering.

You said "Halloween". It's *NOT* Halloween, it's Orange and Black day.

Our local elementary no longer does anything for Halloween, due to parent
complaints and the parents complaining weren't Muslims.  Care to take a
guess as to how said parents collectively might best be described?

Was it you who said the True Gospel was in Matthew 5, or someone else?

I don't think he said it exactly that way.  He said he gets his
direction from the Beatitudes.

Whoever it was, I asked them to define the True Gospel.  I didn't catch
an answer, but may have missed the post.

I get my guidance from sources like the 5th Chapter of Matthew.

On my reader it was you.  Maybe that's because you don't know what
quotation marks are for.

Regardless of whether you thought it was me or not it shows what you
think of DH since it was his comment.  I notice you didn't have any
wise-a.s remarks when he posted that comment.  Obviously it's not the
message but the messenger you are against.  That is very much like what
happened in Louisiana a few days ago.  That state elected an East
Indian as their governor.  They cared more about the message he carried
than his appearance or heritage.  This is in broad contrast to what you
elitist liberals that are rooted in the NorthEast would ever do.  The
Deep South elected a non-white to lead them, what irony!

Like I said, he's a troll.  They come, they go, but they all have two
or three things in common.

Usually the first sign is "stopping by", then "I'm leaving now",
followed by "I just stopped by to see how things were here", etc.

If you posted it, it was yours.  If you want to quote, try quotation
marks.  I don't keep a running inventory of the dialogue here.

That's pretty weak back-pedaling.  The fact remains you made a snide
comment about the remark.  It wasn't my remark but one of your
idealogues.

Guidance, certainly.  But the True Gospel has yet to be defined on this group.

I think I responded but it wouldn't surprise me to find that Teranews didn't
pass it along.  I've lost track of posts they've dropped and sometimes
they're just delayed for days.

I can hunt for it and resend it.

"True Gospel" might have been a little over the top.

You are thinking of something I wrote but you misunderstood it or misread it

Too many posts ago.  I remember now it being "guidance", not a definition.

I notice you got a question instead of a "guess."  <surprise>

*I'll* be brave and guess...., was it conservative Christians?  I hear
tell that Wiccan's don't much care for negative depictions of witches
either.  Can't please everyone when it comes to a favorite mythology.
Same sh.t, different century, sans bloodshed.  So far.

I don't get it. Hallowe'en is a bastardization of All Hallows Eve, the
night before All Soul's Day. The 'holiday' of Hallowe'en is known to go
back even in Christian religions for hundreds of years.

Religion aside, that's not the point. The point I was getting at is that
Hallowe'en is an AMERICAN tradition. I have no problem with people moving
here; become part of the culture or ignore it. But don't force YOUR belifs
on EVERYONE. That's the ideal the country was founded on to begin with.

If you think Hallowe'en is offensive, by all means, ignore it! But what's
happening is that a few are causing a ruckus, and the schools, public
offices, etc, bend over backwards to appease the few.

If you don't like American culture, by all means; you are now free to
LEAVE the country!
