As I said earlier, a whole set would have been fairly inexpansive, and
kept trhe one key for the whole car scheme...
You'll have to remove the cover fromthe steering column. This is done by
removing a number fo screws from underneath the bottom cover. The bottom
will come off, and the top you'll have to wiggle to free it from the
steering column.
You can then see the lock no problem. IIRC, there are two 10mm bolts
holding it to the column; you remove these bolts and lift and pull.
My Corolla was stolen about 16 years ago, so that's how long it's been.
But once you get the covers off, it should be apparent how to remove the
lock, and use the new one as a guide.
Good Luck!

Disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting and wait about a
minute to avoid problems with the airbag and ignition switch wires. Do not
cut or disturb any wires in a bright yellow sheath - they are for the air
bag.
You should not have to remove the steering wheel to remove the steering
column, but you may have to turn the wheel 90 degrees to get at the 2 screws
in the front of the column behind the steering wheel.

You will need the old key and turn the lock to the unlock position to remove
the lock.
