Governments, schools, et al should be non religious (unless it's something
like Elms College, of course...) but...
there are certain holidays recognized by governments that are religious,
obviously. Christmas is a Federal holiday, and as such doesn't really fall
into the Religious category (you can celebrate Christmas without being a
Christian).
It's the bending over backwards to accomodate religion that irritates me.
I guess if the women want to wear head scarves, then by all means they
should be allowed to do so, but there were some attending schools wearing
hats and wigs that covered their heads.
But the real irritating factor to me wqas the amount of time devoted by
the BBC to the topic. They treated it like it was a major news story, when
it's a 2nd or 3rd page blurb at best.
