Good evening,

I recent purchased an 03 Matrix all is well except the annoyance of the
plastic dial with P R N D 2...  It has become loose and  I cannot get it to
stay in place and cannot see an obvious or they are not oblivious to me a
way to get the housing off or get to it to put it in place.

Any and all  help would be appreciate.

thanks in advance

I assume you're talking about the indicator located in the console with
the shifter?

If so, you can remove the cowling around the shifter and make an
adjustment.

Somebody said this is the same procedure for the Matrix:

Same principle but my shift lever is not a part of the center console.
There is an approximate 4" between the center console and the shift lever.
I cannot find any screws on the outside of the unit nor can I find beneath
the covering.

Most panels are merely clipped in now. Just pull or pry gently and it
should pop out.

Start by pulling the knobs off of the climate controls, then pop the trim
piece off with a trim removal tool or putty knife,  After that trim piece is
off, start working your way down to the shifter trim.

Check This link. It's for a Pontiac Vibe, but it should work for a 'trix

Good find!

John,

Excellent,

I have always thought that the engineers when designing a car started with
the heater core and built around it.  The old Cutlass, Monte Carlos were
that way.  I have now changed my mind that it is the gear select indicator.

Just for s & g's how did you search to find this nugget?

Thanks so much and I hopeyou have a Great weekend.

Hi

Have I Vibe, wanted a Matrix but the dealer was a real s__t head about
getting the car I really wanted (5 spd manual), the Pontiac dealer down
the street had 2 on the lot, I even had my pick of 2 colors. There is a
Pontiac newsgroup on Usenet, someone there pointed me to the GenVibe
site. There is one for Trix's also, but it looks like a hang out for
kids who have nothing better to do that mod them (not that anything is
wrong with that). I've learned so much about my Vibe from GenVibe site,
and the "guys" there are really helpful (no "tude").
