Hope that none of the repairs are covered by Toyota. She needs to be
taught a lesson.
However, are there reports of sludge problems with Toyota cars/trucks
even when regular oil change/scheduled service was performed as per
the manual? Wasn't there a problem with sludge accumulation despite
having done all that and that's why Toyota has extended their warranty
on certain engine components to cover the sludge problem?

No, Toyota just caved in. Just like they caved in to Jesse Jackson. They
don't like bad publicity.

Toyota extended the warranty on the V6 engines for certain years. I
have a Camry and Sienna with these V6 engines. I got letter from Toyota
for both, but I don't expect any problems. I change the oil/filter
myself every 4,000 miles with Mobil 1. Using the same approach I have a
20+ year old turbocharged(not water cooled back then) still going strong
today. Tires on the turbo and on my V6 Camry with a manual transmission
don't seem to last too long, but they are fun to drive:-) Objects in the
rear view mirror tend to get very small, very quickly at the lights.

It seems to me, Jackson would be in court for extortion by now.

Agreed, when these are covered, technically, you will pay indirectly.

Well, I havent seen them yet.

URBAN rumors. Nobody had documented sludge and appropriate oil service
intervals.

As far as I've seen...No one that has serviced their car with the
recommended oil changes has had sludge.
That is what my dealer techs tell me.
So far we have asked all the sludge reporters to produce their oil
change receipt.
NOT ONE SLUDGE REPORTER has done that.
My 72 Olds 98 went 35,000 no oil change, no problems. Except the oil was
pretty dirty when it got changed.

Some women (Wickeddoll excepted of course) think that automobile maintenance
begins and ends with putting gas in the tank. Water ? That's for showering
in. Oil, that's for cooking in a wok. Air? duh, for breathing.
I don't need transmission fluid, because I don't have "fluid drive" in my
car. The spare tire? You mean the one around my husband's middle?
Filters? Heck, I don't even smoke!
Reminds me of Phyllis Diller's line about the cop pulling her over.

"Well, officer, I was only going one way!"
