hehehehe!  Snicker, snicker.

You need to consider the person making the comment Natalie and then
take into consideration the character of that person.  In other words,
don't be offended or insulted by the stupidity of others.

Normally, I don't - but the fact that this schmoe directed it at Scott, who
then went along with it, is pretty nauseating to me.

I think anyone on this NG knows I'm not one to cry wolf about race.

One interpretation of Fat Moe's post - it's what Scott imagines in his
thoughts all day and night.  Scott is foaming at the mouth about
Obama.  Scott is the best example of how racism is stupid.  All Scott
can see is Obama's skin color.   Scott is flooding the digest with
anti-Obama posts.

I'm ready to get down to the business of phone banking and knocking on
doors for Obama.  Just waiting for the real campaign to begin after
Labor Day.

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER BARRY IS GREEN. RED, BLACK or PURPLE...

HE IS STUPID.

You lefties will continue to call people who are critical of the empty
suit Barry....racist.

That is simply NOT TRUE....

This is exactly what I was telling Cathy F. the other day.  Just
because one opposes Obama they get labeled as racist or afraid of his
skin color.  I vehemently oppose Obama based upon his policies and what
I see happening if he is elected as President.  I also opposed Hillary
Clinton for the same reason but was labeled as a sexist in that case
also.  It is completely baseless and is just another bomb lobbed one's
way to make them shut up lest they be ostracized.

Scott is being taken to the woodshed for something he didn't even
start.  I'm sorry Natalie was offended but everyone else is like
jackals pouncing on a flesh wound.  Scott made an ill attempt at humor
which is reasonable for Natalie to scold him for but you must realize
he was set up for it by Fat Moe who seems to be getting a pass in this
case.

Sott's aversion to an Obama presidency and his remarks at the beginning
of this thread are all the proof needed. You were twisting ALL day
yesterday scott..???

Which reminds me, I need to get an Obama sign for the yard of my place
here in Pa. I have a neighbor in this gated community who is a narc. A
bigger racist (than he and his wifey) I've never seen.

And if it pisses him off half as much as   you, scott, my work here is
done. I'll leave it up all winter for them to enjoy while I'm gone..

American sells itself as a melting pot. But the turnout in Berlin is
very telling as to where the respect for all humans is given. Tina had
it right moving to Europe..Hopefully, if Obama gets in,  these haters
will find another land to posion...

I think you misunderstood my post.  Scott is a racist.  He is
apoplectic at the thought of a black man as the US President.  No
matter how articulate a person of color is, Scott hears, "I'ze you
prezdent".

Fat Moe also meant it as it sounded.  They both are transparent.

The games of the LEFT.....

I oppose Barry...not because he has a tan.

Because he is STUPID and DANGEROUS!

I'd love to have a competent black as president.  Barry is NOT
COMPETENT....

btw....I opposed John 'the traitor' Kerry damned near as hard as I'll
oppose Barry.

Last I checked, Kerry is white.

It ain't the color....it is the person.

I agree. If it'll piss off the racists in this country the way it has
Scott, I'm willing to ignore the abortion issue and vote for Obama. I
don't think mccain is as clear on abortion as I'd like him to be either.

Mccain couldn't even fill up the Kirby center here in Wilkes-barre,
Pa...That's about 1500 seats! If Mccain can't carry racisit
Pennsylvania, he's screwed..

It's ironic, mccain's about as white a man as I've seen run for pres. He
makes Nixon look like Barry White..

There is a very large new home near me, at least 6000 square feet.  In
the driveway sits a very large dodge pickup, the kind the green people
love to hate, next to it is another SUV, the kind the green people love
to hate.  The yard is highly manicured, with a built-in sprinkler system
wasting valuable water supply to keep the grass looking like a carpet.
This owner clearly likes big toys and big houses with very carpet like
lawns.  Sitting in the front yard is the only obama lawn sign I've see
so far.  Seems funny that someone would own all that junk and waste so
much fuel and water then claim to be a democrat which claims to be for
the environment.

Like so many of those on the far left you too are a hypocrite.

We all respect each others cultures.  Where the rub is for me is when
the other culture tries to get me to buy into theirs.  Respect yes,
join, NO!!   In America we speak ENGLISH, I expect that people who want
to live here learn to speak it as I would try to learn french if I moved
to France or some other country that has another language other than
english.  i would also want to learn and participate in their customs
and cultures....over there, but not here.

I'm happy to see you at least have a low carbon footprint.

Well, DUH! Mr. English language Maven.  Conspicuous consumption is so
very American Capitalistic.  No one consumes stuff like the US.  You
could house half a village in some of the mcmansions.  Most families
in the world can live very nicely in a minivan.

The hypocracy is woven deeply in the fabric of our consumer culture
and for each and every one of us.  I thought you studied Zen or

The left shows their true colors yet again.  Attack when stood up in a
corner with pointy hat on.  Why aren't you listening to Rush Limbaugh
now, he's on the radio and it's open line Friday.  You could call in and

I've been here for many years - I have a *great* sense of humor.  I think
I'm also very tolerant of race/sex jokes - that one was just insulting for
all blacks; it inferred that a well-educated black person talks like a
slave.

It's hideous.

OK, I'll take a stab at it based on your posts here:

racist old fart who when faced with his offensive behavior declares EVERYONE
ELSE to be too sensitive and lacking a sense of humor

you are not the one feeling belittled, so it simply doesn't matter

you are usually able to keep it concealed, until a slip-up like this

And of course should someone hit on something that does belittle you, then
THAT will be hitting below the belt and WAAAYY different from what you do.

Any of this hitting close to home?  Not that you'd admit it......

I was talking with my lunch partners one day.  They are from India.  I
was recounting race relations I encountered while growing up.  One
memory was my brother and I going to an integrated day camp during the
summer.  The day camp was for poor kids.  We had that in common, at
first.

There were many places they couldn't take us because of this fact.
("Integrated" also meant Jewish kids.)  We could only go to one pool
in the whole city.

When we went to Atantic City we could only go to the beach in the
Inlet section.  Blacks weren't "allowed" on the beaches from Atlantic
City to Cape May.

Philadelphia was strickly segregated - movies, bars, restaurants,
pools, you name it.

The guys from India thought I was making it all up.  They kept asking
incredulously, "In America?"

It wasn't that long ago.

I don't understand why you can use a patently racist term like cracker in
reference to a white man when the patently racist term of nigger in
reference to black men is known to incite riots.

For a person with such a low tolerance for racist terms, it strikes me as
odd that you would consistantly (almost constantly) use a racist term. You
are Imus in reverse. Well, no. that's not accurate. White people don't go
around calling each other by a known racist term so that we can get mad when
somebody else uses the term on us. You're not like Imus at all. You're more
like Jesse Jackson, you can bitch and complain about racism, then use racist
descriptions when you think the mic is off.

Nat, I urge you to look at the definition of "Florida Cracker" in
Wikipedia.    It's not a pejorative at all, but you'll be interested in

I've looked it up.

You are not calling Scott a Florida Cracker, you are just calling him a
cracker, which is nigger-speak for honky, which is a wholly racist term  You
are actively using a racist term, and you _know_ it. And I know it. And
everybody else knows it.

I don't think Scott is offended.  He and his mother have been called
much worse things.  Think back to bootcamp.

It's not about Scott's feelings. It's not about me either.

It's about starting a riot when one is called a racist term, then turning
around and using an equally racist term and hiding behind a subtlety of an
entirely different term.

Scott is a big boy, he can express his own righteous indignation if he wants
to.

Mack is the baby here, hoping his mother will wrap her skirts around him and
protect him from his own racism.

Wiki only reinforces what I've said all along; it's not supposed to be,
but - it has been turned into a slur:
may refer to:
Cracker (food), a thin crisp biscuit or wafer, usually salted or savoury
Christmas cracker, traditional British Christmas toy or decoration which
gives a loud 'crack' when opened
Atlanta Crackers, an American baseball team from Atlanta Georgia
Florida cracker, an American pioneer settler of the 19th century in the
state of Florida
Georgia cracker, an American pioneer settler of the 19th century in the
state of Georgia
Cracker butterflies, a genus of butterfly from the Neotropics
Cracker (pejorative), an abusive or slang term for a white person
Software cracker, someone who circumvents copy protection in computer
software
a catalytic cracker used in oil refineries, see Fluid catalytic cracking
a short length of twisted twine or string attached to the end of a whip to
produce a cracking sound
another name for a firecracker
a device used to open small compressed gas cartridges such as whipped-cream
chargers
a person who carries out illegal safe cracking
in computing, cracker may refer to a black hat computer hacker
password cracking, the process of recovering passwords from data that has
been stored in or transmitted by a computer system.

When I was growing up, "cracker" was equal to "honky" and was only used when
referring to whites.  It was a very inflammatory term then, and to an
extent, still is.  Had you have called Scott a redneck, it actually is
pretty much the same thing - a derogatory term for whites.

However, there's no shame in being a good redneck -- if there is such a

Don't bother me either.  Nor does the slang "polock", nor does a few
other slangs aimed at me or my heritage.

See my other response on redneck, but my (100%) Polish hubby doesn't allow
anyone to call him polack - unless it's a fellow Pole.  That's the same
double standard some blacks use for the n-word.

I say both phrases are wrong, no matter *who* says it.

You might want to remind your hubby that the proper phrase is "Taking
offense".  In other words, I can't offend him if he won't let me.  He
is the one who controls whether or not he is offended, not me.  I
could call him every name in the book and if he decided that I was a
fool, he wouldn't be offended by my stupidity.

It's probably a good film, but the director, though talented, is a statutory
rapist, who didn't have the guts to face up to his actions. (yeah, I know

Nat, of all the definitions you gave, the one I called Snott was "Florida
Cracker", which, as you note, is simply a term for an original Florida
settler....and I did so because I believe that Snott has been trapped in the
backwaters of Florida since he helped lay out the street grid of St.
Augustine, the oldest city in the US.
As for being a redneck, I don't think Snott could be called a redneck,
because no self-respecting redneck would ever lower himself to be on the
same plane as our pal, Snott.  Snott's much too stupid to be a redneck.

You did not call him Florida Cracker. He lives in Florida, but you just
called him cracker, and let his state of residence fill in the blank. The
trouble is, florida cracker and cracker are two distinctly different terms.

I think your term "cracker" pertains to being a "whip-cracker", implying
that the individual so named was a slavemaster or boss, cracking the whip.
In Snott's case, it takes two hands to hold up his adult Depends, so he'd
not have a free hand to hold onto a whip.

The scary part is he's not the only one who lost their minds  while
Obama was standing in front of 200k Germans/Europeans.  I am amazed a
how racist and bitter many republicans came across yesterday..

I think it hit them that the white house is lost and lost  for 8 years.
Instead of being happy that the U.S. appears to have found someone who
can unite the world and change the opinion of the U.S in the world's
eyes, you got the sense they were rummaging around in their attics for
their rifle scopes in between negative blogs..

I now see how the republicans got their reputation in the black

like the republicans are going to  make (even) her look like a good

The facts do not support you.

1.) All of the polling data today puts the race at too-close-to-call. Obama
leads by a number that is less than the margin of error on these kinds of
things. The best he has been is at 5 points, with a margin of 3 points. That
was two weeks ago.

The problem for Obama is that he's not winning against a guy that by all
appearances is boring us to death. Obam should be ahead by double digits.

2.) Obama does not need votes from around the world, he needs them from
voters right here at home. It does not matter what France thinks.

3.) It is a common liberal tactic to engage in calling the other side race
baiting when liberals start to believe they are loosing the
discussion/battle/race/argument. You brought race to the table, nobody is
playing the race card except you.

4.) Those 200k people in Germany were there for a concert anyhow. Obama was
a side show. And, for a large crowd, they did not make very much noise.

5.) I've seen e-mail messages from the front lines, and Obama was _not_ very
friendly towards the troops.

6.) Obama passed on a chance to visit wounded troops.

For a guy with no military experience, he should be far more public in
embracing the very troops he is campaigning to lead into battle. Obama made
several mis-steps in the past two weeks. He has an uphill battle to win the
election.

Contrast Obama's visit to Germany to  when Bush goes there.. Don't they
flip cars and burn sh.t when he's in the neighborhood...?

I know Europeans to be respectful when they care  to hear what you have
to say....
For a   just being a candidate,  there sure was a lot of people. And
judging by the squirming I (and a lot of others ) see among the racist,
redneck fringe they know it's over polls or not....

I guess we'll see. But I'd be willing to bet a lot of people wont admit
(in meaningless polls)  they're for Obama because of racism..

I've got  nothing against Mccain, except as you said he's boring as
heck. But if it's going to piss off the racists, It'd be fun  to watch
them take their medicine..

Time for 'Dr. Who' <<-----love that show..

Another thing about racism. There are black people who are racist. It's
important to say this because sometimes it gets lost in the discussion.

And then we have the 'non' racist people who are hypocrites. For
example, I have friends and customers who are black and have a Bahamian
heritage. One particular child of one of my customers is funny as hell.

If I were to imply she was interested in a Haitian dude she'd call me a
whole bunch of names. Apparently, according to her, Haitians are way
below her and 'they smell'.

Now if a white person were to 'dis' this same girl in a racist way she'd
be screaming racism at the top of her 'substantial' lungs. LOL

And this, of course, also goes on with whites .. I get Irish people
hating me just because I look very Italian. I've never met them or
spoken to them, yet they hate me at sight.. These same people might tell
you they like black people.. But they're 'non' racist racists  just the
same..

I hope we don't start talking about sex change operations...Who knows

When does one stop being black today?    I list myself as a Native American
because I, my parents and grandparents were all born in the US

Two of my four grand parents were black.  My mother was white and my father
black.   My wife is white.   Since they are more white than black, I told my
children to list themselves as white and never as black.

This is one black man who believes the Dims cry of racism every time
Obama is challenged on some of the lefty goofy stuff he says and does,
is part of the Obama campaigns plan to thwart any criticism.
Listen to some of the things he wants to do. He is a socialist who will
ruin this county by trying to make us like Europe.   Listen to his
plans to cut the military and to eliminate future weapon systems, as did
Carter and Clinton.
I certainly will not vote for another black man simply because he is
black as so many other blacks apparently want to do.   If you doubt
that look at the average of over 95% of the blacks who voted for him in
the various primaries.   Voting against someone because he is not
"like you" is wrong, but voting for someone simply because he IS like
you is far worse
-----------------------------

If you're talkin' about me ( and I'm still not sure), according to the
U.S. gov. I'm white. My ex girlfriends and customers call me a 'wigger'.

I will say this , for a black man Barry is not very black. When it comes
to behavior,  I make Barry  look like John Kerry. But I think the
consenses in the black community is they'll take him even though he's
really not very black.

I'm Native American because I can trace my ancestory back to the Jamestown
colony. My peeps were movers and shakers with Capt. Smith and Pocohantas.

I hated to salute old fat bastards, because I knew they sat on their
a.ses more than they got out where the work was performed.
