Hachiroku - 28 Jul 2008 13:24 GMT "I see less sexism, and there will be less in ths generation, and less in the next generation..."
Does this woman watch MTV? Does she visit college campuses? My job takes me to all the colleges in the area, and the guys treat the women like pieces of meat, and the women love it. Not all women like it, mind you, but a lot do.
I also play in a lot of bars, and a lot of the women *ACT* like pieces of meat. Nancy needs to get out more...

This is quote out of context, but I have to assume she's talking about generally being considered more equal than they used to be - no longer considered weird to have a woman doctor or vet (there are more women in vet. med. now than men), pay still isn't equal but is getting there, etc.

Anyway, I'll stand by my earlier guess/reply.

Look at ads on TV. I especially like the AXE ads, where using a certain shower gel will have women beating down your...uh, door. Beer ads are good, to. There are LOTS of ads that portray women as stupid pieces of meat while the men have the control. I see this echoed a lot on the college campuses I go to for my job. Not entirely, of course, but to a good extent.
Of course, the control changes hands after the ring is on the finger... ;)

(Before TV/media ads, etc. look back to theater entertainment.) Whereas anything approximating gender equality in the job/career arena hasn't.

Yes, GWB has made a few dumplings, but so has the obama and he's not even begun the job yet. --

Oh, for crying out loud! This is a stand-alone piece - it's ridiculous in *or* out of context. One doesn't need to know the context - that (IIRC) NCLB was the topic when he uttered this - to be able to criticize/make fun of it. Although it (context = NCLB) *does* make it even more ridiculous. ;-P

It's ebonics, and the answer is, "no, our children be not learning." Which prompted No Child Left Behind. He wants children to aks questions so they be learning.
DUH! Does everything need to be explained to you?

He's often made fun of re: his mangling of the English language, but that's not the same sort of thing as this is.

No, its just the same old, same old - no matter the time of day. Either he's serious & takes conversations in circles, sans logic, backtracking &/or denying "x". Or else it's a game that he plays, all on purpose - for his own source of amusement. Half the time I think it's the first scenario, half the time I think it's the latter.
