ron - 30 Aug 2008 21:46 GMT It was al franken that was quoted today as saying this Gustav) is the payback to Republicans. Looks like a good one.
Lady (in NOLA) on the news this AM saying that this time there is a plan to evacuate and it had started in already. I thought they had a plan last time but saw 600 some school buses flooded and people stranded. Same mayor, but I guess the Republican governor kicked his a.s into gear.

Here in Florida we have had great governors for awhile.
Jeb Bush and now Charlie Crist.

But I along with GWB and Karl Rove decided to turn Gustav the destroyer a little more West, but only when the time is just right. We will direct it into the sparsely populated East Texas coast and we also decided to weaken it a bit to perhaps a cat 2 or 3 at most. --

re: the subject line - taking one person's comment based on irony (everyone knows M. Moore has been fed up with the whole Katrina issue - the lack of preparedness, the lack of dedicated & organized response...) & twisting it all out of proportion; using it to throw an extremely wide net & to slam millions of people - in this case, Democrats who have *no* desire for a catastrophe of any sort - for absolutely no concrete reason. IMO, an ignorant/stupid thing to do.

Democrats were supposed to help their constituents, and instead hundreds of buses sit idle and flooded, and the Bowl was destroyed and took months of man-hours to get back in shape. Unfortunately, Brown was as useless as tits on a bull, too. But it was up to the local government to provide a First Response, and they fell flat on their faces.

However, it is not the onus of the Federal Government to make sure local governments are prepared for impending disasters. They had almost a week's notice and did nothing. It is up to the state government to prepare ahead of time, and if needed the Federal gov't can be asked for assistance afterwards.
The Governor and the mayor were the ones who should have taken action before hand; they didn't. The local government should have provided aid to those left behind (while hundreds of buses sat flooded) and didn't, and then it's on George Bush to take the blame. Wrong.

[quoted text clipped - 9 lines] > sometimes says "nuke 'em!", which gives him a little tingle in his > sh.t-filled diaper. The Dems are filled with glee because they can blame the Republicans for a slow response because they are all at the convention drinking and carrying on instead of manning the buckets to drain the swamp, or they can blame the Republicans for manning the buckets but the swamp overflowed anyhow.
Of course, it is Bush's fault that the levees don't hold, as if Bush is supposed to be out there with his trowel building the levees with his bare hands. They will blame Bush that the people failed to evacuate, and if htey do evacuate, the Bush Administration will be responsible for the school bus breaking down, or the highways to be clogged -- even with the inbound lanes converted to outbound lanes.
Of course, George Bush and his band of merry men are responsible for global warming, and global warming causes huricanes, so Bush is the cause of huricanes.
If somebody dies, Bush failed to plan properly, or the Republicans failed to act. If nobody dies, it's has nothing to do with planning and forethought by the administration.
No matter how it goes, the Dems are primed to blame the Republicans. Even if the Dems don't do the blaming, the media will.

I tend to avoid listening to LIARS like the Demoncraps. One can fill one's mind with truth, or lies. I prefer truth, although in Dougie's long-haired maggot-infested dope-smoking FM-type world, I'm believing the lies and he has the truth.
I unfortunately had to survive in Arkansas during most of the years of Clinton's governorship and the years of Hillary being on the Wal-Mart board. (Funny how she wouldn't take any contributions from Wal-mart this last time. . . .) We used to have two jokes about Bill Clinton.
1. How can you tell when Bill Clinton is lying? His lips are moving.
2. Why are there no white edgelines along most Arkansas highways? Bill Clinton sucked them all up his nose.

The Snopes article is dancing around the quote. The quote is not a mangling of anything he said. It's a joke that someone wrote about the sort of things that Clinton, McCain, and the rest of "the gang" of candidates of both parties were saying during the primaries.
It's much like the old quote attributed to Dan Quayle:
I was recently on a tour of Latin America, and the only regret I have was that I didn't study Latin harder in school so I could converse with those people.
He never said it. It was a joke that someone told that ended up being repeated over and over again as fact:

And an upskirt is pretty low on the scale of stuff that is worth the effort.
