Hachiroku ハチロク - 07 Sep 2008 15:28 GMT
From what I can gather from this group:

He's not McCain (was the number 1 answer until...)
He's not Palin (I don't see how running for President = being nominated
for VP, but then, I can think straight...)
He's for Change (No, he's for More of the Same, good old Partisan politics)
He has a PhD in Law (so did Robespierre)

And, he's black.

Wow. Those are some qualifications.

The Black part and the fact that he can read off a TelePrompter are
the ONLY reasons the Dims selected him....

The republicans (dims) didn't select him. The Democrats did.

We have two US Senators running against each other.

One is old and experienced, but has rubber stamped nearly everything GWB has
wanted. (and claims he is "change"???)

One is young and less experienced, but he has a plan and vision that appeals
to a great many people. You guys used to laugh at the concept of "change."
Now you don't.      http://cagle.com/working/080905/margulies.jpg

What is the qualification that you are looking for, the one that would
change your vote?
badgolferman - 08 Sep 2008 03:02 GMT

I am looking for a commitment to combat terrorism around the world AND
in the US, whatever means it takes.

I am looking for a commitment not to raise taxes on ANYONE.

I am looking for a commitment to stamp down on illegal immigration.

I am looking for a commitment to welfare reform and making people earn
their monthly check from the SSA.

I am looking for personal responsibility to be emphasized.

I am looking for someone who sticks to their guns and does what is
right regardless of polls.

I am looking for someone to have pride in being an American, not shame.

I don't care if this person is black, green or red.  I do care what
they stand for and the record they have established, not what they are
saying on the campaign trail.

Didn't get that from Bush, he stuck us with Iraq.  Won't get it from
McSame, he thinks Iraq is "the war to win".

>I am looking for a commitment not to raise taxes on ANYONE.

I want taxes raised on the richest among us and dropped for the rest.
Why not you?

>I am looking for a commitment to stamp down on illegal immigration.

We all want that.

>I am looking for a commitment to welfare reform and making people earn

Who isn't?

>I am looking for personal responsibility to be emphasized.

You mean like it was for Bush?  Feh.

>I am looking for someone who sticks to their guns and does what is

McSame has flip-flopped depending on who he's talking to.  So much for
sticking to his guns.

>I am looking for someone to have pride in being an American, not shame.

Both have pride in America.  As bad as it is right now, neither really
should.  Bush made the US a laughing stock.

>I don't care if this person is black, green or red.

Frankly, I think I'd have a problem with green.

I like Obama's pride in America.

After all, he admitted on ABC on Sunday he's Muslim.  That alone will keep
the Middle East at bay and keep any more terrorists out of the U.S.A.

And I really like the photo of Senator Biden leaving the US flag on the
floor under his chair to demonstrate the Democratic campaign's "Change"
policy.

Go Obama!

They did sparky.  They worked for years and paid into the Social
Security fund (which the government uses like found money).  Now you
want retired seniors to work for their checks?

The SSA also processes welfare checks.  I have no problem with seniors
or disabled receiving a monthly stipend check.  I do have a problem
with low-life leeches that are perfectly capable of working but live in
government housing and are paid to remain unemployed.  Those are the
same ones that hang out on street corners and are the cause of the vast
majority of crime in the US.  They also seem to be driving nicer cars
and wear better clothes than the average working stiff.

SSI is Social Security Retirement Benefits.

SSA is Disability and Crazy Checks.

Anything that shows he has the qualifications to run the country.

What differentiates McCain and Obama. 22 or so years in the Senate. No
Keating 5 stain on Obama, Real proposals by Obama to improve the average
American's situation (granted it won't take much to improve it--over 600,000
jobs lost this year, housing credit mess, National debt increase of such
magnitude that Reagan couldn't even imagine it and McCain flipping and
flopping on change)

The repugnicans DON'T want to win the presidency because Bush has
screwed things up completely.  But they just might because Obama is
black, and the possibility of having to take over a bankrupted America
has repugnicabs scurrying around to scuttle the boat - hence Palin.

So is Lincoln  and your people refer to them (Reagan and Lincoln) frequently
when it suits you. Both of them and a lot of other departed republicans are
spinning in their graves at the spectacle of the current version of
republicanism.

That's a really important qualification.

Funny, now McCain wants to be Obama, though. Why else did he take
Obama's call for change up?

> He's not Palin (I don't see how running for President = being nominated

Perhaps you should read the part of the constitution where the VP
becomes President if the President dies.

> He's for Change (No, he's for More of the Same, good old Partisan politics)

No, he is for change. Change from the bad energy policies of the
Republicans. Change from the take from the poor and give to the rich
economics of the Republicans. Change from the lies that led us into
Iraq. Change from the economic policies that caused the economy to
falter.

> He has a PhD in Law (so did Robespierre)

That's cool. I thought he had a J.D. (juris doctoris - the usual law
degree). I did not know he went on to get a Ph.D.

> And, he's black.

That's not a qualification. However, I, for one, am glad to see
someone of color run for President. It helps show everyone that the
color of one's skin is not nearly as important as one's character and
ability.

There are many more.

Not if you know McCain's habit of crossing the aisle.

Because McCain is change. He's known for crossing the aisle, and bucking
his own party. He's done it often. That's change.

Sure. And Palin is just about as experienced as Obama.

And he wants to take Pelosi's do-nothing stance on oil exploration. That's
change?

Somebody here said PhD. I thought it was a JD, also. Didn't look it up.

Then why the f.ck doesn't someone name them?
All I've seen here are in the original post for this thread.
